Type

The following type statuses are used in the AVH:

  • EPI (epitype)
  • HOLO (holotype)
  • ISO (isotype)
  • ISOLECTO (isolectotype)
  • ISONEO (isoneotype)
  • ISOPARA (isoparatype)
  • ISOSYN (isosyntype)
  • KLEPTO (kleptotype)
  • LECTO (lectotype)
  • NEO (neotype)
  • PARA (paratype)
  • PARALECTO (paralectotype)
  • ISOSYN (isosyntype)
  • KLEPTO (kleptotype)
  • LECTO (lectotype)
  • NEO (neotype)
  • PARA (paratype)
  • PARALECTO (paralectotype)
  • SYN (syntype)
  • TOPO (topotype)
  • TYPE (unspecified type material)

Not all herbaria use all type status categories, and some herbaria abbreviate type status to just the prefix, so you will get more accurate results by using just the prefix followed by a wildcard (%). Include a wildcard before the prefix if you want to include uncertain types (which are sometimes preceded by a question mark) in your query.
